$100 – buys bednets to protect 30 families against malaria. Malaria kills more than 1 million people a year, mostly children. Insecticide-treated bednets are a proven way of saving lives.

$500 – covers the costs of treating malnutrition for five children. More than 10 million children die every year before they reach their fifth birthday. And more than half of those deaths are the result of chronic hunger and malnutrition that weaken their bodies and immune systems, turning common childhood ailments like diarrhea, pneumonia and measles into killers.

$1,280 – buys a year's supply of lifesaving antiretroviral drugs for 10 AIDS patients. Only 20 percent of patients in developing countries who need the drugs now receive them. With your help, PIH offers universal access free of charge in the areas where we work.

$4,150 – builds a concrete block house with a tin roof for a patient's family. Living in shacks with leaky roofs and mud floors makes infections more likely and treatment more difficult for many of our patients. PIH builds new homes for families in need.

$10,000 – provides clean water for an entire village. Diarrhea, usually carried by unsafe drinking water, is the leading cause of death for children in developing countries. Constructing a well-cap can bring clean water and improved health to an entire community.
