PIH Chosen as Designated Charity by Project for Awesome 2016

BOSTON (Dec. 8, 2016)—Project for Awesome (P4A) 2016 has chosen Partners In Health (PIH), for a second time, as one of its two designated charities for its annual fundraising event this December. Started in 2007 by John and Hank Green, P4A has raised millions for designated charities and those chosen by the online video community.

As part of the event, PIH Chief Medical Officer Dr. Joia Mukherjee will appear on the P4A Livestream this Friday, December 9 at 3:30pm EST to talk about post-Hurricane Matthew relief efforts in Haiti.

“It is an honor and privilege to be chosen, for a second time, as the Project for Awesome designated charity,” said Partners In Health CEO Dr. Gary Gottlieb. “The Green brothers have built a creative and effective online community for supporting organizations like Partners In Health that are working to make the world a better place. We applaud them for their commitment to this noble cause, and we thank them for choosing us to be a part of their truly awesome project.”

P4A 2016 will begin December 9 at 12:00pm EST and run through December 11 at 11:59am EST. During this time, thousands of people will post videos about charities they believe are working to better the world. P4A promotes these videos and raises money for the charities. The community raised over $1.5 million in 2015, which was split between two designated organizations and 20 charities chosen by the online video community. PIH was a designated charity in 2014 as well.
